The BIG Heart
What is it?
The Big Heart is a symbol of spirit, commitment and dedication awarded each year to the winners of the Trojan Dance Marathon Spirit Competition.
All teams participating in Dance Marathon fall into one of the following categories: Greek, Residential, Student Organizations, or Friends of DM. Teams then compete within their category to accumulate the most Spirit Points and win the BIG HEART.
Why does your organization want to win it?
· The Big Heart will be given to the winning organization to display for a year!
· The winning organization will also receive a prize of epic proportions.
· Winners will be recognized in Dance Marathon’s closing ceremony.
How do you win it? By racking up those points! Here is how to earn them:
The Basics
Register for Dance Marathon
· Before Winter Break: 10 points per dancer
· After Winter Break: 5 points per dancer
Fundraise
· Total dollar amount raised by your team will be divided by the number of team members – that amount will be awarded to your team as Spirit Points!
Pre-Event Point Opportunities
· Hosting a fundraiser event: 50 points
· Promo Video Competition: 20 points
· Donating materials to Dance Marathon: 10 points
· Blood Drive: 5 points
Opportunities at the Event
· One volunteer shift: 10 points
· Every additional hour at event (checking in): 2 points
· Individual spirit shout-outs: 2 points
· Participating in spirit activity: 2 points
